Why Finding the Right Jiu Jitsu School Matters
The Jiu Jitsu school you choose isn't just a place to train this amazing martial art, it's where you'll grow, learn, and face new challenges. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is not a solo journey. The people you train with and the Jiu-Jitsu instructors who guide you will influence not only how fast you progress but also how enjoyable the journey is.
A great Jiu Jitsu school builds strong habits from the beginning. It emphasizes discipline, teamwork, and perseverance. The atmosphere should be inviting, not intimidating. Everyone, regardless of their experience level or age, should feel supported. This is where personal transformation happens. Whether you're trying to get in shape, relieve stress, or simply find a new hobby, the right school makes all the difference.

The foundation of any great Jiu-Jitsu school is its instructors. Look for teachers who have both the experience and teaching skills to help students at every level. At Gracie Barra Greensboro, our instructors follow a proven system that builds on fundamentals while adapting to each student's pace.

Think about these questions during your school visits:
- Are the instructors accessible and encouraging?

My name is Lucas, I’m from Brasilia,Brazil. I started jiu jitsu when I was 16 years old. As a regular kid in Brazil I started practicing martial arts when I was a kid with capoeira. After a few years I had my first contact with Muay-Thai and 2 years later I had my first class in Jiu-Jitsu and like most of the people I loved since that I never stopped.

Hey! I am Coach Jess, a purple belt here at Gracie Barra Greensboro. I started my Jiu-Jitsu journey in February of 2021 after being with my husband (Professor Lucas) for about 1 year. I was a little hesitant to start. I have been an athlete my whole life, so after graduating college in 2020, Jiu-Jitsu was the perfect transition to stay active and still involved in a team sport beyond school years! Joy-Jitsu offers a wonderful community and workout all in one!!
